In the last decades, the role of maintenance in the companies has evolved and deeply changed. The mission of maintenance is changed, from a “repair when it’s broken” policy to a complex managerial system oriented to failure prevention and to continuous improvement policies. The aim of this thesis is to provide a tool to help the maintenance personnel to choose the best time to perform maintenance actions, basing on the condition of the item in exam, on the statistical analysis of the historical failure data and on the cost per unit of time of the action. Thanks to a condition monitoring system, it is possible to develop a tool capable to satisfy the mentioned requirements. In this research a prognostic tool is presented. This tool is based on the historical failure data analysis, on the data coming from the inspections and on a statistic model called Proportional Hazards Model. The proposed tool has been validated on a balancing machine taking in account as risk indicator the data coming from the electric signature. The proposed tool can be defined as a useful help to support the decision of the maintenance manager about the best time to perform maintenance actions, in order to minimize the total cost of maintenance.

Abstract
The proposed tool can be defined as a useful help to support the decision of the maintenance manager about the best time to perform maintenance actions, in order to minimize the total cost of maintenance.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
