My thesis focuses on the design of collective open spaces as a tool for urban regeneration and social inclusion. I stand that the interaction between architecture, education, and visual arts can foster the creation of community identities, innovative participatory processes, and the enhancement of urban spaces. My study focuses on Rivolta D’Adda, a municipality in the province of Cremona, which possesses a rich but underutilized environmental and cultural heritage. I have selected 20 international case studies that cover various themes: education, ecology, art, health, and sports. Moreover, I have created an interactive map using “My Maps” platform to identify the most representative places in the city, including buildings and public or private open spaces. Subsequently, I have identified eleven open spaces that could be adapted to accommodate activities and participatory actions. Using collage techniques, I have proposed different solutions to reinterpret the case studies in relation to each selected location. Furthermore, I have described two catalytic actions carried out during the Sant’Apollonia fair, Piazza Bosco and Sguardi a Rivolta. These actions involved residents and visitors in the construction of a collective narrative through photographs exhibited in a courtyard transformed into an exhibition space. This experience was a success, demonstrating the potential of public places as a tool to engage the community and develop a sense of collective identity. Building on this positive experience, I have proposed a redevelopment project for the courtyard of the Former Stables of Palazzo Celesia as a further consolidation of the catalytic action “Sguardi a Rivolta.” This project aims to transform the courtyard into a multifunctional space that promotes social inclusion and creates opportunities for the local community. In conclusion, my research focuses on the enhancement of public places as a tool for urban regeneration and social inclusion. Through the interaction between architecture, education, and visual arts, I have identified innovative solutions for the selected locations in Rivolta D’Adda. The catalytic actions during the Sant’Apollonia fair have demonstrated the potential of public places in engaging the community and promoting a sense of collective identity. The proposed redevelopment project for the courtyard of the Former Stables of Palazzo Celesia represents an additional opportunity to consolidate these positive results.

Abstract
My thesis focuses on the design of collective open spaces as a tool for urban regeneration and social inclusion. I stand that the interaction between architecture, education, and visual arts can foster the creation of community identities, innovative participatory processes, and the enhancement of urban spaces. My study focuses on Rivolta D’Adda, a municipality in the province of Cremona, which possesses a rich but underutilized environmental and cultural heritage. The proposed redevelopment project for the courtyard of the Former Stables of Palazzo Celesia represents an additional opportunity to consolidate these positive results.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
