Just go with the Po

Waterways are essential components of the living and non-living world. They shape landscapes and serve as demarcation lines as “natural borders”between states in many parts of the world. In addition to being lines that separate, rivers and streams are also lines that connect, and borderland territories are often particularly rich places of life, interaction, passage, porosity, cross-pollination and exchange.The Po Valley is one of the most important industrial and agricultural areas in Europe. However the cities eat the rural, and the rural eats the wilderness and exploits the river Po, creating a polluted space rather than being the lungs of the city. For instance this research was born to address the River Po, the landscape and the agriculture in the city of Cremona through the recovery, re-valorisation, re-connection, re-integration of the river Po for the city. One of the main goals is to intermingling and blurring the distinction between land and water, between rural and urban, between Po and Cremona. Go with the Po is a project that imagines the river as a new, active, social space for interrelating that operates across scales and programs. It defines how inhabitants of Cremona interact among themselves and with their surrounding ecosystem. On a community scale, it becomes a space for innovation for agriculture and ecosystem and reduction of the pollution. On a territorial scale, it connects the city of Cremona with every other territory watered by the Po as it flows.

I corsi d'acqua sono componenti essenziali del mondo vivente e non vivente. Modellano i paesaggi e fungono da linee di demarcazione come "confini naturali" tra gli stati in molte parti del mondo. Oltre che linee che separano, fiumi e torrenti sono anche linee che connettono, e i territori di confine sono spesso luoghi particolarmente ricchi di vita, interazione, passaggio, porosità, impollinazione incrociata e scambio. La Pianura Padana è una delle aree industriali e agricole più importanti d'Europa. Ma le città mangiano il rurale, e il rurale mangia il selvaggio e sfrutta il fiume Po, creando uno spazio inquinato piuttosto che essere il polmone della città. Ad esempio questa ricerca è nata per affrontare il fiume Po, il paesaggio e l'agricoltura nella città di Cremona attraverso il recupero, rivalorizzazione, riconnessione, reintegrazione del fiume Po per la città. Uno degli obiettivi principali è quello di mescolare e sfumare la distinzione tra terra e acqua, tra rurale e urbano, tra Po e Cremona. Go with the Po è un progetto che immagina il fiume come un nuovo, attivo, spazio sociale di interrelazione che opera a scale e programmi diversi. Definisce come gli abitanti di Cremona interagiscono tra loro e con il loro ecosistema circostante. Su scala comunitaria, diventa uno spazio per l'innovazione per l'agricoltura e l'ecosistema e la riduzione dell'inquinamento. A scala territoriale collega la città di Cremona con ogni altro territorio bagnato dal Po che scorre.
