Design and Develop an MES system based on the SAP BTP platform for Mind The Value SRL

This thesis describes the internship that was performed by the author at “Mind The Value”, a consultancy company in Milan. The main goal achieved during the internship was the design and development of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES), intended to be handed over to the Development team in September for implementation through the SAP BTP platform. The methodology used to explore and achieve the main goal of this project is the double diamond approach. This method assisted in forming a clear roadmap to understand and successfully achieve the goal. This process also made it easier to generate the best possible result, which in this case is the design of the MES system. This thesis is structured into four main sections, each corresponding to the four phases of the double diamond approach. The initiation section focuses on the discovery and understanding of the MES system and its four modules of MES system which are Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Reporting. The second part is defining how Mind The value are going to make a profit through implementing this project by doing the market analysis and creating the business model. In the third section which is development, the flow chart of the entire process in with each module of the MES system is presented. The concluding section encompasses a deliverable Functional Document that provides a comprehensive outline of the design of the MES system. This document is intended to be delivered to developers for implementation via the SAP BTP platform.

Questa tesi descrive lo stage svolto dall'autore presso "Mind The Value", una società di consulenza a Milano. L'obiettivo principale raggiunto durante lo stage è stato la progettazione e lo sviluppo di un Sistema di Esecuzione della Produzione (MES), destinato a essere consegnato al team di sviluppo a settembre per l'implementazione tramite la piattaforma SAP BTP. La metodologia utilizzata per esplorare e raggiungere l'obiettivo principale di questo progetto è l'approccio a doppio diamante. Questo metodo ha contribuito a delineare una chiara roadmap per comprendere e raggiungere con successo l'obiettivo. Questo processo ha reso più semplice generare il miglior risultato possibile, che in questo caso è la progettazione del sistema MES. Questa tesi è strutturata in quattro sezioni principali, ciascuna corrispondente alle quattro fasi dell'approccio a doppio diamante. La sezione di inizio si concentra sulla scoperta e la comprensione del sistema MES e dei suoi quattro moduli, ovvero Produzione, Gestione della Qualità, Gestione della Manutenzione e Reporting. La seconda parte definisce come Mind The Value intende trarre profitto dall'implementazione di questo progetto, attraverso l'analisi di mercato e la creazione del modello di business. Nella terza sezione, che è quella dello sviluppo, viene presentato il diagramma di flusso dell'intero processo, con ciascun modulo del sistema MES. La sezione conclusiva comprende un Documento Funzionale da consegnare, che fornisce un quadro completo della progettazione del sistema MES. Questo documento è destinato a essere consegnato agli sviluppatori per l'implementazione tramite la piattaforma SAP BTP.
