This architectural thesis focuses on the revitalization of the Prishtina train station while also exploring the country’s historical backdrop and emphasizing the effects of the 1999 conflict. The project aim is to understand and evoke experienced emotions of the people during the 99’ war time in Kosova, seeking to emphasize positive emotions. Beginning with urban analysis of Prishtina, the methodology is used to look at the city’s general urban fabric, architectural character, and building typologies. Focusing on public spaces of the city , but not only, and then calling them Urban Acupuncture or notable districts with notable elements. Furthermore a thorough research of the setting is prompted after this analysis, which identifies the intervention area including train station building with the railway station, with also two other important noted acupunctures near the site Boro Ramiz building and Grand Hotel near the city centre. A clearer understanding of the train station’s potential future function and integration into the local environment is made possible by this deeper examination. The research looks at how the train station, which is close to being abandoned, and the underused railway system may be rejuvenated given Prishtina’s post-war environment and rapid urban expansion, which is defined by turbo urbanism. The goal of the thesis is to turn the railway station into a lively and useful area that contributes to the social, cultural, and economic growth of the city. To this end, it suggests tactics and design solutions. This thesis investigates the revitalization of Prishtina’s railway station via a mix of historical research, urban analysis, and contextual knowledge, stressing its relevance within the city’s fabric and imagining its potential as a catalyst for change. The proposal aspires to create a relevant and dynamic area that serves both the nearby neighborhood and the larger urban setting by redesigning and reusing this important infrastructure asset.
A tal fine suggerisce tattiche e soluzioni progettuali.
