Cycling to reach the beaches

The cycle path of the "Riviera dei Fiori" seaside park (originally also known as "Parco Costiero del Ponente Ligure") is one of the longest cycle paths in Europe with a total length of 24 km. It was born on the former coastal monorail route of the old Genoa-Ventimiglia railway line, in the stretch between Ospedati and San Lorenzo. The line was reclaimed and transformed into the current cycle path by the majority-owned company Area 24, which completed the first section in 2008 and finished in 2014. A unique route of its kind that even touches the sea in some sections and cuts across two, the sea and the land, crossing areas that were once inaccessible due to the railway line. These changes have led to a surge in tourism in the province of Imperia, and more and more people have come here to participate in this cycling route. Our proposal aims to create a qualified space, an urban cycle path that reflects the character of the city, connects all the potential places of the city and, above all, adds real use value for citizens and tourists. The project will be implemented in Sanremo and Imperia, two cities with a large number of tourists and tourist resources, therefore not only a project to connect the cycle path with the city, but also a project to activate urban tourism. La pista ciclabile del parco balneare "Riviera dei Fiori" (originariamente conosciuta anche come "Parco Costiero del Ponente Ligure") è una delle piste ciclabili più lunghe d'Europa con una lunghezza complessiva di 24 km. Nasce sull'ex tracciato costiero della monorotaia della vecchia linea ferroviaria Genova-Ventimiglia, nel tratto compreso tra Ospedati e San Lorenzo. La linea è stata bonificata e trasformata nell'attuale pista ciclabile dalla società quotata di maggioranza Area 24, che ha completato il primo tratto nel 2008 e terminato nel 2014.
