A Contemporary Museum as a revival of Castello Sforzesco ramparts : form and transformation : revealing Leonardo’s manuscript through an invisible Milan

The emergence of museology renovates a contemporary museum with the notion of the everlasting, of the existing, and of the roots. The research addresses these topics on a theoretical level by analyzing two museums with the architects’ insight of contemporaneity, extracting the features and framing a paradigm for the practice: A design focusing on Castello Sforzesco Ramparts. Throughout the design process, the understanding and reinterpretation of everlasting, existing, and roots form a method of exploring the site, to find what is often ignored, as well as a method of intervention. The outcome of the design is a museum complex with a care for the experience of both the interior exhibition space and the exterior urban space.

L'emergere della museologia rinnova un museo contemporaneo con la nozione di eterno, di esistente e di radici. La ricerca affronta questi temi a livello teorico analizzando due musei con l'intuizione degli architetti sulla contemporaneità, estraendone le caratteristiche e inquadrando un paradigma per la pratica: Un progetto incentrato sui Bastioni del Castello Sforzesco. Nel corso del processo di progettazione, la comprensione e la reinterpretazione dell'eterno, dell'esistente e delle radici costituiscono un metodo di esplorazione del sito, per trovare ciò che spesso viene ignorato, nonché un metodo di intervento. Il risultato del progetto è un complesso museale attento all'esperienza dello spazio espositivo interno e dello spazio urbano esterno.
