In recent decades, procedural content generation (PCG) has seen a gradual but steady advancement, being deepened and applied by various researchers, designers and developers. In particular, one branch of PCG that is attracting increasing attention is interactive procedural narratives (IPN). This is developed across multiple disciplines, encompassing different and divergent narrative and generative strategies. A vast and heterogeneous panorama is thus defined, rich in in-depth studies and applications. However, there is a lack of a classification system that can accurately and comprehensively describe the nature of an NPI. This leads to the founding question of this thesis: what are the relevant and/or proper characteristics of a procedural system capable of generating interactive narrative flows? And how can such features be classified and organised? Related to this, there also arises the need to understand in what hierarchical relationship these features stand between each other, as well as to define the ways in which they may influence each other. This thesis will provide a taxonomy relating to interactive procedural storytelling. In other words, a transversal hierarchical classification that encompasses all aspects of this branch of PCG, providing an important tool for all designers who will venture into this environment.

Abstract
In other words, a transversal hierarchical classification that encompasses all aspects of this branch of PCG, providing an important tool for all designers who will venture into this environment.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
