An in-depth analysis of the Quantum Computing market ecosystem and its dynamic evolution

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the Quantum Computing market, trying to provide indications on the state of the art of the technology and the behavior of players, both public and private. In particular, by means of a census carried out in collaboration with the Quantum Computing Observatory of the Politecnico di Milano, the aim was to analyze the state of the offer, the state of demand and the relations between these two sides. This type of analysis provides insights on how the ecosystem is evolving, highlighting the areas that are more investigated and advanced and those where, instead, there is less exploration. The results show how, although the technology is potentially revolutionary, there is still a long way to go before we see concrete applications.

L'obiettivo della tesi è quello di analizzare il mercato dei Computer Quantistici cercando di fornire delle indicazioni sullo stato dell'arte della tecnologia e sul comportamento dei players, sia pubblici che privati. In particolare, tramite un censimento svolto in collaborazione con l'Osservatorio Quantum Computing del Politecnico di Milano si è voluto analizzare quale sia lo stato dell'offerta, lo stato della domanda e quali siano le relazioni che intercorrono tra di esse. Questo tipo di analisi permette di capire come sta evolvendo l'ecosistema mettendo in risalto le aree maggiormente indagate e avanzate e quelle dove, invece, c'è una minore esplorazione. I risultati dimostrano come, nonostante la tecnologia sia potenzialmente rivoluzionaria, molta strada deve essere ancora percorsa prima di vedere delle concrete applicazioni.
