Formare le competenze del futuro : mestieri d'arte e design thinking

The "artistic craft" has always been of inestimable value to our country, representing the culture of "savoir faire" in the world. In recent years, industrial production has led it to lose the centrality it deserves, confining it to a nostalgic sphere. This is due to a complicated relationship with the issue of innovation. Design today represents a creative and engaging problem-solving mode for many companies. In particular, the Design Thinking method could also represent a chance for small Italian workshops to regain the competitive value that has always characterized them and prove that they can still respond to user needs. Politecnico di Milano, thanks to the support of Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, can become the training place for the craftsmen of the future. Passing through texts such as R. Sennet's The Craftsman (2008) and S. Micelli's Futuro Artigiano (2011) and an interview with Ugo La Pietra, the research results in the definition of a course proposed by the Politecnico that exploits the potential of microlearning and the methodology of learning by doing. The goal of the course is to enable the artisan to establish a beneficial collaboration with the designer. By educating the craftsman in the culture of design and the designer in the culture of savoir-faire, it is possible to establish a mutual exchange of knowledge leading to the consequent education of the user in the tradition of the craftsman's work.

Il “mestiere d’arte” ha sempre avuto un inestimabile valore per il nostro Paese rappresentando nel mondo la cultura del “saper fare”. Negli ultimi anni la produzione industriale lo ha portato a perdere la centralità che merita, relegandolo ad una sfera nostalgica. Ciò è dovuto ad un complicato rapporto con il tema dell’innovazione. Il design rappresenta oggi per molte imprese una modalità di risoluzione dei problemi creativa e coinvolgente. In particolar modo il metodo Design Thinking potrebbe rappresentare anche per le piccole botteghe italiane una possibilità per ritrovare il valore competitivo che da sempre le caratterizza, e dimostrare di poter ancora rispondere alle esigenze dell’utente. Il Politecnico di Milano, grazie al supporto di Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, può diventare il luogo di formazione per l’artigiano del futuro. Passando per testi come L’uomo artigiano di R. Sennet (2008) e Futuro Artigiano di S. Micelli (2011) e per un’intervista a Ugo La Pietra, la ricerca sfocia nella definizione di un corso proposto dal Politecnico che sfrutta le potenzialità del microlearning e la metodologia del learning by doing. L’obiettivo del percorso è permettere all’artigiano di instaurare una vantaggiosa collaborazione con il designer. Educando l’artigiano alla cultura del progetto e il designer a quella del saper fare è possibile instaurare uno scambio reciproco di conoscenze che porti alla conseguente educazione dell’utente alla tradizione del mestiere artigiano.
