In recent years, the field of cell modulation has received wide recognition for biomedical applications. In this area, optical methods have been exploited as cell stimulation techniques able to achieve extraordinary spatial and temporal resolution. Optogenetics and photobiomodulation are examples of optical stimulation techniques, but they present drawbacks, such as, safety issues and limited efficacy. An interesting alternative is based on the use of exogenous photoactive materials. In this thesis work, we investigated two different approaches based on photoactive polymers.

Abstract
In recent years, the field of cell modulation has received wide recognition for biomedical applications. In this area, optical methods have been exploited as cell stimulation techniques able to achieve extraordinary spatial and temporal resolution. Optogenetics and photobiomodulation are examples of optical stimulation techniques, but they present drawbacks, such as, safety issues and limited efficacy. An interesting alternative is based on the use of exogenous photoactive materials. In this thesis work, we investigated two different approaches based on photoactive polymers.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
