This research stems from the passion of the two authors for the alpine ecosystem and high altitudes, fueled by a desire to raise awareness among the public about climate change. In particular, the focus of the thesis is on the effects of drought at high altitudes and the rapid melting of glaciers, a phenomenon that has been occurring relentlessly for several years now. This thesis aims to provide a concrete example of how architecture can be employed to increase awareness of these issues that impact the Alpine landscape and beyond. The developed architectural project intends to serve as a model not only for the technical solutions adopted but also for the ethical message inherent in the design choices made. By applying technologies and solutions aimed at achieving energy self-sufficiency, the thesis takes a conscious approach to the territory, transforming a former refuge that once housed a military command during World War I into a museum dedicated to the evolution of alpine glaciers over the centuries. The intention is to give the place a new educational purpose that embraces its history but emphasizes above all a new battle to be fought: the one against climate change.

Abstract
The intention is to give the place a new educational purpose that embraces its history but emphasizes above all a new battle to be fought: the one against climate change.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
