This thesis focuses on applying process improvement methods to a real business case at Milor S.p.a., a renowned Italian jewelry brand specializing in high-quality gold and silver jewelry. The objective of the 5-month internship, was to lead and coordinate the Web team in revising and enhancing the current process flow for preparing e-commerce orders, with the aim of optimizing efficiency and preparing for potential sales growth through this channel. The project also aims to implement a framework that translates the company's vision and strategy into measurable objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs). To address these objectives, this thesis introduces two frameworks: Value Stream Mapping, a lean management tool that focuses on process improvement and waste reduction, supported by the Time and Motion Study, which helps analyze and optimize work processes. Additionally, the proposed implementation of a Balance Scorecard offering a comprehensive approach to performance management and goal alignment. Given that Milor is a small, family-owned company, collaboration and communication with the operational staff and stakeholders were crucial in identifying gaps, defining potential solutions, and establishing objectives. Throughout the project, the limitations of limited resources, financial constraints, and decentralized objectives were considered and addressed through a collaborative approach. The findings and recommendations outlined in this project provide valuable insights for improving the e-commerce process at Milor and serve as a foundation for further enhancements. By implementing the suggested improvements and continuously monitoring performance, Milor can position itself for success in the dynamic e-commerce landscape.
