In the last two decades, a new production methodology aimed at enhancing companies, known as World Class Manufacturing (WCM), has expanded in Italy and Europe. The WCM aims to eliminate all waste generated during production, and through thorough and structured research, it identifies and eliminates such waste. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first briefly discusses the evolution of manufacturing over the years. The second part outlines the World Class Manufacturing methodology along with its main tools. The final part presents my internship experience at the Cascina Costa facility of Leonardo S.p.a. The internship's aim was to expand the Professional Maintenance pillar within the facility. This was achieved by eliminating losses caused by malfunctions and implementing specific projects designed to identify and eliminate further issues. The thesis demonstrates how World Class Manufacturing, specifically in the Professional Maintenance pillar, provides a set of functional and effective tools for identifying and eliminating losses. This results in significant economic savings, enabling the company to become more competitive in the market. Throughout the discussion, the thesis presents challenges faced during my time in the company, along with analyses conducted to characterize them and the actions implemented for resolution.
Negli ultimi due decenni in Italia ed in Europa si è espansa una nuova metodologia di produzione volta a far eccellere le aziende, il World Class Manufacturing (WCM). Il WCM ha come obiettivo l’eliminazione di tutti gli sprechi causati dalla produzione e grazie ad una ricerca accurata e strutturata riesce ad individuarli ed eliminarli. La tesi è divisa in tre parti, nella prima viene trattata brevemente l’evoluzione della manifattura negli anni. Una seconda parte illustra la metodologia del World Class Manufacturing con i suoi strumenti principali. Nell’ultima viene presentato il mio lavoro di tirocinio presso lo stabilimento di Cascina Costa dell’azienda Leonardo S.p.a. L’obiettivo del tirocinio è stato quello di espandere il pilastro della Manutenzione Professionale all’interno dello stabilimento. Questo è stato fatto eliminando le perdite causate da guasti ed implementando progetti specifici, volti ad individuare ed azzerare ulteriori problematiche. La tesi mostra come il World Class Manufacturing, nello specifico nel pilastro della Professional Maintence (PM), renda disponibile una serie di strumenti funzionali ed efficaci per l’individuazione delle perdite e la loro eliminazione, producendo ingenti risparmi economici che consentono all’azienda di essere sempre più competitiva sul mercato. Durante la trattazione vengono presentate problematiche affrontate durante il mio periodo in azienda, con le analisi fatte per la loro caratterizzazione e l’azione implementata per la risoluzione.
