Objective. The Industrial Internet of Things is a key enabling technology for the digitalization of the industrial sector in a 4.0 perspective. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the state of art of Internet of Things industrial solutions in the world and, above all, in Italy and understand the role of IoT in achieving environmental goals and discover the close correlationrelationship between levels of commitment to environmental sustainability and integration of IoT technology in Industry 4.0.Here goes the Abstract in English of your thesis followed by a list of keywords. The analysis of the literature has served to obtain an overview of the technologies and properties that characterize the Industrial IoT, as well as the census of a IIoT Database thanks to which the primary trends in the field of the industrial IoT have been analyzed. Subsequently, through a survey sent to large Italian companies, an analysis was carried out to identify the link between technological innovation and the commitment to environmental sustainability in Italy. Conclusion. The result of the thesis focuses on the transition towards a more extensive utilization of IoT and the analysis of the correlationrelationship between technological advancement and the commitment to environmental sustainability in Italy. Through the processing of data collected through the questionnaire a data-value matrix has been created. This work has allowed us to explore the real link between sustainability and IoT technology in the context of Industry 4.0.
Obiettivo. L'Industrial Internet of Things rappresenta una tecnologia abilitante fondamentale per la digitalizzazione del settore industriale in un'ottica 4.0. Lo scopo della tesi è analizzare lo stato dell'arte delle soluzioni industriali Internet of Things nel mondo e, soprattutto, in Italia e comprendere il ruolo dell'IoT nel raggiungimento degli obiettivi ambientali e scoprire la stretta correlazione tra i livelli di impegno per la sostenibilità ambientale e l'integrazione della tecnologia IoT nell'Industria 4.0 italiana. Metodologia. Diverse fonti sono state utilizzate per il completamento della tesi. L'analisi della letteratura è servita per ottenere una panoramica delle tecnologie e delle proprietà che caratterizzano l’Industrial IoT, così come il censimento di un IIoT Database grazie al quale sono state analizzate le tendenze primarie nel campo dell' IoT industriale. Successivamente, attraverso un'indagine inviata alle grandi aziende italiane, è stata effettuata un'analisi relativa ad identificare il legame tra l'innovazione tecnologica e l'impegno verso la sostenibilità ambientale in Italia. Conclusione. Il risultato della tesi si focalizza sula transizione verso un utilizzo più esteso dell'IoT e sull'analisi della correlazione tra l'avanzamento tecnologico e l'impegno verso la sostenibilità ambientale in Italia. Attraverso l'elaborazione dei dati raccolti tramite il questionario è stata creata una matrice dati-valore. Questo lavoro ha permesso di esplorare il reale legame tra sostenibilità e tecnologia IoT nel contesto dell’Industria 4.0.
