This study presents insights into the fatigue behavior of gamma-TiAl (γ-TiAl) alloy at elevated temperatures through an experimental campaign. The fatigue-induced damage mechanisms are subsequently examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) to provide insights into the microstructural changes and failure modes. SEM allows for a detailed analysis of the fracture surfaces, crack initiation sites, and propagation paths, enabling a better understanding of the material’s fatigue behavior under different condi- tions. Microstructural analyses are used for a quality control check which failed under an error of 15% for a requirement of a safety factor of 1,5. This may indicate the need for a more sophisticated model or analytical methods for the hypothesis at hand. When considering a safety factor of 1,2, due to performance requests, such method satisfies the requests. Finally, to account for the clustering phenomenon, a knock-down factor is de- termined which is inversely proportional to the square root of the number of the colonies in the cluster.

Abstract
Finally, to account for the clustering phenomenon, a knock-down factor is de- termined which is inversely proportional to the square root of the number of the colonies in the cluster.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
