Soluzioni design driven per la valorizzazione delle risorse provenienti da scarti e rifiuti nell'industria moda

This thesis aims to understand, classify, and systematize the processes used today in the practices of valorizing pre-consumer and post-consumer waste in the Fashion industry. The thesis begins with a study of sustainability in the field of Fashion, focusing on the environmental sustainability of products in the Fashion sector and the solutions currently adopted by industry players. This research has led to the identification of an approach to sustainability that is still relatively uncommon among companies in the sector, different from the material recycling of textile materials, namely the UPCYCLING OF TEXTILE WASTE AND RESIDUES. The topic was addressed through a qualitative type of research, which first sought, then selected, and finally analyzed examples of companies adopting this approach. The research has been synthesized and organized into a model, the result of research and analysis, which serves as a proposal for systematizing the practices and processes that emerged from the qualitative research. Modeling the research results brought to an attempt to create an interpretative tool useful to anyone interested in studying the topic or concretely adopting these practices. The model has been used as a tool for comparing theoretical research conducted through articles and scientific publications with the processes observed in various case studies, later validated through interviews with industry professionals. The final part identifies possible future scenarios and how these processes can be implemented.

Questo lavoro di Tesi ha l’obiettivo di conoscere, classificare e sistematizzare le lavorazioni utilizzate oggi nelle pratiche di valorizzazione di scarti e rifiuti nell’industria della Moda. Il lavoro di Tesi parte da uno studio del tema della sostenibilit􏰰 nel campo della Moda, con un focus sulla sostenibilit􏰰 ambientale dei prodotti del settore Fashion e sulle soluzioni oggi adottate dai player del settore. Questa ricerca ha portato a individuare un approccio alla sostenibilit􏰰 ancora poco diffuso tra le aziende del settore, diverso dal riciclo materico dei materiali tessili, ovvero la VALORIZZAZIONE DI SCARTI E RIFIUTI TESSILI. L’argomento 􏰱 stato affrontato tramite una ricerca qualitativa che ha prima cercato, poi selezionato e infine analizzato esempi di realt􏰰 che stanno adottando questo tipo di approccio. La ricerca 􏰱 stata sintetizzata e organizzata nel modello, risultato del lavoro di ricerca e analisi, che si presenta come una proposta di sistematizzazione delle pratiche e delle lavorazioni emerse dalla ricerca qualitativa. Modellare i risultati della ricerca corrisponde al tentativo di creare uno strumento interpretativo, utile a chiunque sia interessato a studiare l’argomento o ad adottare concretamente queste pratiche. Il modello 􏰱 stato utilizzato come strumento di confronto tra la ricerca teorica portata avanti tramite articoli e pubblicazioni scientifiche e le lavorazioni osservate tra i diversi casi studio, validato poi con l’intervista di lavoratori professionisti del settore. La parte finale si individua quali possano essere gli scenari futuri e come queste lavorazioni possano essere implementate.
