The wine market is facing a decline due to climate change and the cost of living crisis which are affecting the discontent of farmers and the operators in the sector, especially in light of the adopted policies; Italy, as the leading producer of the wine, has been particularly affected by this crisis. In response to these challenges, a re-evaluation of the product of wine in small areas such as Valtellina, is becoming increasingly important. This thesis explores the concept of ecomuseums as a solution to support the wine industry in Valtellina, leveraging cultural winescapes. The research focuses on cultural heritage, sustainable practices and community engagement: by integrating cultural and environmental elements, the proposed solution of an ecomuseum offers a holistic approach to showcase the unique identity of the territory. Through its offers, the ecomuseum promotes education and authentic experiences, not only preserving local heritage but also promoting sustainable tourism practices. The thesis adopts a multidisciplinary methodology, incorporating desk research, interviews, a co-design session and strategic analysis to develop the concept. Finally, it highlights the potential of ecomuseums as agents of territorial innovation and community empowerment and envisions a future where locals drive innovation and sustainability through active citizenship practices.
Il mercato vitivinicolo sta affrontando un importante crisi a fronte dei cambiamenti climatici e all’impennata del costo della vita, che stanno alimentando il malcontento degli agricoltori e degli operatori del settore, soprattutto alla luce delle politiche adottate; l’Italia, in quanto primo produttore di vino, è stata particolarmente colpita da questa crisi. In risposta a queste sfide, una rivalutazione del prodotto vino in piccole aree come la Valtellina, sta diventando sempre più importante. Questa tesi esplora il concetto di ecomuseo come soluzione per sostenere l’industria del vino in Valtellina, facendo leva sui paesaggi culturali del vino. La ricerca si concentra sul patrimonio culturale, sulle pratiche sostenibili e sul coinvolgimento della comunità: integrando elementi culturali e ambientali, la soluzione proposta di un ecomuseo offre un approccio olistico per mostrare l’identità unica del territorio. Attraverso le sue offerte, l’ecomuseo propone educazione ed esperienze autentiche, non solo preservando il patrimonio locale ma anche promuovendo pratiche di turismo sostenibile. La tesi adotta una metodologia multidisciplinare, incorporando ricerche desk, interviste, una sessione di co-progettazione e un’analisi strategica volte allo sviluppo del concept. Infine, la tesi evidenzia il potenziale degli ecomusei come agenti di innovazione territoriale e di empowerment della comunità e immagina un futuro in cui i la popolazione locale sia prima promotrice d’innovazione e sostenibilità attraverso pratiche di cittadinanza attiva.
