This work of Thesis suggests an alternative way of considering urban lands which are often seen as territories to be conquered and to be built on rather than spaces to be protected and to be saved. We propose a designing method that has the primary goal of saving “Bosco di via Falck”, a green area in the north-west end of the city of Milan. The designing process also aims at showing an alternative strategy in the city design practice as well as in the architectural design. “De-flooring” abandoned areas and reusing old buildings are two processes considered in this work. Using these methods in the Gallaratese district re-design project, we aspire to show that the bad practice of flooring a green soil can be reversed carrying lots of benefits to the environment and to the people. We believe that in the next future abandoned areas should be considered as the primary raw material in architecture and in city design, avoiding extreme land use.

Abstract
We believe that in the next future abandoned areas should be considered as the primary raw material in architecture and in city design, avoiding extreme land use.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
