BikeBox : verso un'ipotesi di microstruttura per la sosta urbana dei rider

This thesis work was focused on the observation of the behavior of food delivery workers in the city of Milan, more commonly called Riders. Through a careful analysis of everything that concerns the world of food delivery, including the characteristic behaviors of this working category up to the essence of the rider as a cyclist and with a particular focus on those who use the bike as the main means of moving around city, the final content of the thesis will be a mostly volumetric, material and functional concept of a possible microarchitecture to support the moments of rest of these figures. The structural hypothesis has been identified as BikeBox, where the English term box is not intended as a "box" or "container" but, in terms of functionality, and therefore closer to a box equipped with various functions useful for life as a Rider or as a cyclist. With a view to progress and gaining space for the community, Bikebox presents itself as a starting point towards a possible transformation of the urban fabric that evolves and adapts to the needs of the city and the people who live there.

Il presente lavoro di tesi è stato incentrato sull’osservazione dei comportamenti degli addetti alle consegne di cibo nella città di Milano chiamati più comunemente Rider. Attraverso una attenta analisi di tutto quello che concerne il mondo del food delivery, includendo i comportamenti caratteristici di questa categoria lavorativa fino ad arrivare all’essenza del rider come ciclista e con un focus particolare su coloro che utilizzano la bici come mezzo principale per spostarsi in città, il contenuto finale della tesi sarà un concept per lo più volumetrico, materico e funzionale di una possibile microarchitettura a sostegno dei momenti di sosta di queste figure. L’ipotesi strutturale è stata identificata come BikeBox, dove l’inglesismo box non viene inteso come “scatola” o “contenitore” ma, in termini di funzionalità, e quindi più vicino ad un box attrezzato con diverse funzioni utili alla vita da Rider o da ciclista. In un’ottica di progresso e ricavo di spazio per la comunità, Bikebox si pone come punto di partenza verso una possibile trasformazione del tessuto urbano che si evolve e si adatta alle esigenze della città e delle persone che la vivono.
