The congestion level in urban areas has risen over the last few decades, and this imposes a number of expenses on the residents of these cities, which, in turn, triggers a search for new mobility solutions and methods of their facilitation. It is important for decision makers to understand how policies and decisions positively affect the urban mobility environment in order to make better decisions. The utilization of active transportation like bicycle mode as part of a city's transport system is one of the new major mobility solutions that can positively affect the sustainability of urban areas as well as decrease congestion and its associated problems. To enhance the perceived bikeability of the city of Milan, the purpose of this work is to develop a DSS that has the ability to use a number of transport policies and interventions and measure their effectiveness in improving the performance of bikers. A multinomial logit model was used to model the bike path choice based on the positive and negative variables gathered from the literature and the bicycle traffic simulated towards the two campuses of Politecnico di Milano as the current scenario. Construction of new cycleways has been the subject of intervention scenarios, and their effectiveness has also been assessed. As the findings of this study indicate, there is a significant correlation between bikers' perception of safety and bikeability in Milan and even when their trip time and distance increase, bicyclists choose to ride on cycleways to avoid conflicts with other vehicles. An improvement of 7 percent in impedance results in intervention scenarios implies the effectiveness of interventions and enhancement of perceived bikeability.

Abstract
An improvement of 7 percent in impedance results in intervention scenarios implies the effectiveness of interventions and enhancement of perceived bikeability.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
