UrbaNature : verso nuove alleanze tra spazi dell'abitare e componente naturale

The thesis project investigates the theme of collective dwelling in the variations and forms which place the natural component at the centre of the living spaces. The project takes inspiration from the recent InternationaleBauausstellung2027(IBA’27)“Future Münster 2050”,competition which centered on the theme of the requalification and renewal of a central area of the Münster district, northeast of Stuttgart. Today, the area, adjacent to Neckar River and agricultural fields, is characterised by a peri-urban and fragmented fabric, mono-functionality, and an heterogeneous green public space. The aim of the project is to create an architectural organism coherently integrated with the local urban, social and natural context, proposing new connections between the district and the individual housing unit scale. The first phase explores design visions of contemporary collective living, through design references which focus on the typological variety, the integration of the open space in the domestic environment, and the adaptability which characterise housing today. These are integrated with examples of the IBA competitions of the 20th century, which placed the natural component in the centre of the project, proposing new concepts of inhabiting one's home and urban space. The second phase begins with the analysis of the urban context, its morphological, functional and typological aspects, its inherent landscape features, with the goal of defining design strategies which envision its future development. The program mainly refers to housing for different generations and users and from single individuals to larger groups and is framed by new public functions at the district scale. The project proposes three open courtyards in which the coexistence of landscape and artifice is founded on a constant and balanced relationship, defining a meeting places. Ultimately, the aim of the intervention is to include open green spaces for a better collective living, to enhance the sense of community between the residents and to create a more connected, self-sufficient, and sustainable peri-urban area, with places where the dynamics of nature and human dwelling can coexist and cooperate.

Il progetto di tesi indaga il tema dell’abitare collettivo nelle sue declinazioni e forme, che pongono la componente naturale al centro del progetto. Il progetto trae spunto dal concorso Internationale Bauausstellung 2027(IBA’27),“Future Münster 2050” incentrato sulla riqualificazione e il rinnovo di un’area residenziale nel distretto di Münster, a nord-est di Stoccarda. Attualmente l'area, adiacente al fiume Neckar e ai campi agricoli, è caratterizzata da un tessuto periurbano e frammentato, da mono funzionalità e da uno spazio verde pubblico eterogeneo. L'obiettivo del progetto è di creare un organismo architettonico integrato con il contesto,proponendo nuove connessioni tra paesaggio e artificio. La prima fase esplora visioni progettuali dell’abitare collettivo contemporaneo, tramite riferimenti progettuali sulla varietà tipologica, l’integrazione dello spazio aperto e l’adattabilità nell’ambiente domestico. Queste visioni sono integrate con alcuni esempi, sviluppati nell’ambito del concorso IBA nel tardo XX secolo che hanno messo la componente naturale al centro del progetto, proponendo nuovi concetti di abitare e di spazialità urbana. La seconda fase riguarda il percorso progettuale, a partire dall’analisi del contesto urbano, dei suoi aspetti morfo-tipologici e naturalistici/paesaggistici e delle funzioni in esso presenti, fino alla definizione delle strategie di progetto chiave, immaginandone lo sviluppo futuro. Il programma proposto si riferisce principalmente ad alloggi per diverse generazioni e utenti, da singoli individui a gruppi più numerosi, e all’introduzione di nuove funzioni pubbliche alla scala del quartiere. Il progetto propone tre cortili aperti in cui la coesistenza di paesaggio e artificio si fonda su un rapporto costante ed equilibrato, definendo così nuovi luoghi di incontro. L'obiettivo dell'intervento è, perciò, quello di includere lo spazio aperto verde per migliorare la vita collettiva, per accrescere il senso di comunità tra i residenti e per creare un'area periurbana più connessa nelle sue parti principali, autosufficiente e sostenibile, con luoghi in cui le dinamiche della natura e dell'abitare umano possano coesistere e cooperare.
