The convergence of Industry 4.0 technologies represents a radical change in industrial operations, heralding unprecedented opportunities. It is characterized by the integration of cyber-physical systems, Internet of Things, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence, reshaping the way products are designed, manufactured, and delivered. There are a lot of drivers that push companies to innovate themselves. This revolution brings resource utilization, minimizing waste, increased efficiency, higher quality, flexibility, customization, and production cost reduction. However, the adoption of Industry 4.0 is not without challenges. It might inadvertently bring high implementation costs, increased electronic waste, energy consumption, data privacy and cybersecurity. Moreover, there will be other problems related to employees who are frightened by the novelty and are not prepared to benefit from the potential of these technologies. So, fostering a culture of continuous learning and training is crucial to empower the workforce with the skills required to operate these advanced technologies. This topic has now spread to all sectors of production. In some sectors, the revolution has already begun, in others feasibility studies are being discussed. In this work the focus is on the Italian sport industry. It is understood which are the barriers, applications, drivers, benefits, critical success factors and criticalities that the company meets in the implementation of them. Which could be the innovative technology that we can implement in this sector. With some interviews done in the company, it is understood if they already have these technologies or if they are thinking of implementing them in the future. From the results of the interviews, it can be said that in this area the situation is very critical for several reasons that will be discussed later. This is in accordance with what some research institute as we can see in Parole di Management: “the level of innovation in the sport industry already implemented is quite low (22%) ". So, this means that other actions are needed since innovation is the key that opens unimaginable doors to extraordinary opportunities.
In questo lavoro l'attenzione è rivolta all'industria sportiva italiana.
