During the Twentieth century, the packaging played a crucial role both in the society and on the consumers’ world, evolving in parallel with social, economic, cultural and technological development, which contributed to a radical transformation of the society, of the way of thinking and of the urban landscape. This work of thesis aims at investigating an area in which the packaging played an important role, both in terms of usage and for its ability to affect people’s thoughts. An area about which does not really exist an adequate literature yet: the artistic field. By analyzing under this perspective a large quantity of artistic works produced since the beginning of the previous century, I have been able to find a panorama of hundreds of works in which the packaging, or the act of packing, had a central importance. It then became essential to organize the material collected, identifying a series of principles to group them according to common characteristics, in order to arrive at the final definition of five categories that describe the different attitude of the artists who, during a century, employed this artifact, highlighting similarities and differences.

Abstract
It then became essential to organize the material collected, identifying a series of principles to group them according to common characteristics, in order to arrive at the final definition of five categories that describe the different attitude of the artists who, during a century, employed this artifact, highlighting similarities and differences.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
