Pinuccio Sciola, born Giuseppe Sciola, is a renowned Sardinian artist famous for turning stones into musical instruments, creating unique sculptural works called lithophones1. These basalt and limestone stones emit unique sounds when stroked. The Sound Stones are the result of precise carvings that release their inherent sonorous nature. Since 2016, part of the lithophones has been kept in the Giardino Sonoro, a museum house managed by the Sciola Foundation. This venue hosts cultural events and performances, which keep the artist's poetics alive and attract local and international visitors. Sciola's artistic vision is manifested through the Pietre sonore above all in a form of design intent that seeks to promote an open dialogue between the work and the public, breaking down all barriers. This peculiar characteristic of Sciola's art provides the foundation for the redesign of the Sciola Foundation and PS Museum sites, which aims to optimise usability and accessibility by all kinds of users. In fact, the sites are fundamental as they become the main touchpoints to receive valuable information on the artist's life and work, to consult the archive of works in the permanent collection and finally become a tool to purchase tickets online to access and visit the Sound Garden Museum. Through data collection by means of a survey, interviews and through comparison with other art and museum sites, the main areas of the Sciola Foundation and PS Museum (Pinuccio Sciola Museum) websites were redesigned with the aim of making the user experience more intuitive and at the same time accessible. Since the two sites of the Foundation and the PS Museum share several sections in common, they have been unified in a single homepage with a consequent hierarchical reorganisation of the contents in order to make navigation easier for the user. Furthermore, through the application of precise guidelines, issues for the accessibility of the site to users with disabilities were resolved. In line with Pinuccio Sciola's original vision of making his art usable and accessible to all, the website thus becomes a clear and direct touchpoint through which users can explore the fascinating universe of the Sardinian artist.

Abstract
In line with Pinuccio Sciola's original vision of making his art usable and accessible to all, the website thus becomes a clear and direct touchpoint through which users can explore the fascinating universe of the Sardinian artist.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
