Traditional therapies lack the diversity and adaptability required for the effective engagement of individuals suffering from Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDDs), which encompass conditions marked by cognitive and communication difficulties. The emergence of Generative AI and the advancements seen in Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT-4 present promising avenues for customised and interactive therapeutic approaches. LLMs possess an exceptional ability to comprehend and generate text akin to human communication, offering a flexible foundation for crafting personalised interventions through prompt engineering. GPT-4, in particular, represents a significant milestone in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) realm, standing out as one of the best LLMs for supporting the creation of interactive and tailored therapeutic methods. We introduce ChatCare, Conversational Helper for Assisted Therapy, Caregiver Assistance, and Recreational Education. ChatCare employs recent technological advancements to assist individuals with NDDs by enhancing communication, educational outcomes, and emotional comprehension. One of the critical features of ChatCare is its ability to exploit LLMs to generate on-the-spot customised exercises for a specific goal and the particular disorder of the user while contextualising them in a flowing conversation. This technology allows ChatCare to be highly modular and easily expandable with additional exercises when necessary. During our research, we validated the LLM technology for individuals with NDDs by organising a test day at an educational centre in Milan. Then, after the first release of ChatCare, we organised a focus group with seven experts in the field of NDDs in order to collect professional feedback on the application. We collected valuable insights during the focus group, and therapists praised the application.
Presentiamo ChatCare, Conversational Helper for Assisted Therapy, Caregiver Assistance, and Recreational Education.

Abstract
We collected valuable insights during the focus group, and therapists praised the application.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
