The social participation of university students in Chinese county is required by schools, usually in the form of summer practice, but it lacks channels and public service platforms that combine professional knowledge. The research question is how to enhance university students' participation in citizen social science research in the county through service design. This study does field research in County C in China, using cultural probes and in-depth interview to find out the factors that influence university students' participation in local research. The influencing factors are motivation, ability, environment, and forms of participation. In the design phase, the study proposes a 'Knowledge Orchard' service system. The services include knowledge learning and exchange, short-term collaborative research with friends and family, and long-term independent research. This study expects to help the local government better understand university students' needs and facilitate a shift towards a 'user-centered' approach to participation mechanisms. The knowledge service design for regional research can inspire scholars in the field of citizen science and county research participation.

Abstract
The social participation of university students in Chinese county is required by schools, usually in the form of summer practice, but it lacks channels and public service platforms that combine professional knowledge.
