The extreme structural damage and destruction caused by the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, in southeastern Turkey cannot be explained by a single reason or a small number of reasons. In this context, it is undoubted that deficiencies and mistakes in structural design and construction processes are crucial factors. On the other hand, the opinion is that the extremely high velocity and acceleration of ground movements in the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023, pushed the limits of earthquake regulations, and therefore caused heavy damage and destruction in buildings, revealing the need to evaluate these issues scientifically. In this thesis, the earthquake records taken by AFAD in Antakya are discussed specifically and in the context of the earthquake regulations used in our country since 1975 and of Eurocode. The results of the thesis are intended to contribute to efforts to explain the extreme damage and destruction that occur in earthquakes.

Abstract
The results of the thesis are intended to contribute to efforts to explain the extreme damage and destruction that occur in earthquakes.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
