The Izmir Electricity Factory opened in 1928 and worked not only to produce energy for the sector but also to spread modernization through electrification. This development symbolizes the city's technological advancement. The factory closed in 1989, and there has been no significant study to regain this industrial value for over thirty years. The purpose of this study is to highlight the importance of the Izmir Electric Factory and to explain the characteristics of this factory within the framework of the criteria for figuring out cultural assets to be protected. The study determines the history, architecture, identity, memory, and ancient values of the Izmir Electric Factory, identifies damages in the structure and correctly fixes them, ensures the preservation of original architectural properties during repair works, and suggests innovations that align with the building's structure and value, emphasizing and underlines the value and importance of the old Izmir Electric Factory as an industrial heritage. In addition, the study proposes repurposing the Izmir Electric Factory as a museum, workshop area, and gathering space, leveraging its cultural assets and heritage values. The study determines the preservation plans and implementation methods to preserve original architectural features during the conservation work. As a result of this study, in the years and after the fire disasters that the structure has suffered and damaged due to various natural disasters, the thesis identifies the existing damages on the front of the building and the structure, makes the right solutions following the applicable practices, contributes to the structure into the city, and incorporates the structure with the proposed designs, reflecting the city's journey towards modernization and its industrial legacy.
La Fabbrica di Elettricità di Izmir è stata aperta nel 1928 e ha operato non solo per produrre energia per il settore, ma anche per diffondere la modernizzazione attraverso l'elettrificazione. Questo sviluppo simboleggia il progresso tecnologico della città. La fabbrica ha chiuso nel 1989 e non è stato condotto alcuno studio significativo per recuperare questo valore industriale per oltre trent'anni. Lo scopo di questo studio è evidenziare l'importanza della Fabbrica di Elettricità di Izmir e documentarne le caratteristiche al fine di studiare un corretto approccio per la conservazione eil riuso. La ricerca analizza la storia, l'architettura, l'identità, la memoria e i valori della Fabbrica di Elettricità di Izmir, identifica i danni nella struttura e propone metodi di riparazione adeguati, garantendo la conservazione delle proprietà architettoniche originali durante i lavori di restauro. Inoltre, lo studio suggerisce innovazioni che si allineano con la struttura e il valore dell'edificio, enfatizzando e sottolineando il valore e l'importanza della Fabbrica come patrimonio industriale. Il progetto propone di riutilizzare l’edificio come museo, area di laboratorio e spazio di ritrovo, valorizzadno ciò che rappresenta nello specifico contesto della città. Lo studio determina i piani di conservazione e i metodi di implementazione per preservare le caratteristiche architettoniche originali durante i lavori di restauro. L’analisi dei danni e lo studio delle caratteristiche specifiche, incluse le vulnerabilità che la caratterizzano, indirizzano il programma per una corretta conservazione e un riuso adeguato della fabbrica.
