Over the last few years, the retail industry has undergone significant transformations that have strongly modified its competitive dynamics and its critical success factors. The creation of an extremely personalized omnichannel purchasing experience thanks to recent technological innovations is in fact only the latest breakthrough that the purchasing process of a final consumer has undergone in the last two decades. Indeed, it has gone from the presence of only brick-and-mortar stores to the affirmation of e-commerce as an increasingly relevant channel in terms of market share, which was in turn emphasized by the development of so-called mobile and social commerce. Focusing on B2C e-commerce, therefore, the research work aims to identify the main technological innovations that the sector is facing and that merchants should embrace in order to remain competitive and thrive in this dynamic landscape. In concrete terms, the analyses carried out started by defining which are the main emerging technologies capable of significantly impacting B2C e-commerce and which are the application areas currently in use relying on these technologies. Secondly, the research developed a qualitative analysis to understand which innovative solutions (different from those previously identified) are provided by startups to merchants and what is the relevance of their impact on the e-commerce value chain. Lastly, the study delved deeper into the most promising startups between the analyzed ones, providing in-depth reports on each. The final results provide an overview of the market movements toward innovation led by technological breakthroughs.

Abstract
The final results provide an overview of the market movements toward innovation led by technological breakthroughs.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
