Lo sviluppo Industriale di Borgo Venezia - Verona (1886-1961)

After the loss of the military privileges in the land outside Verona’s walls, at the end of the XIX century, the area of Borgo Venezia has been configured as a great attractor for industrial activities, small and medium-sized, due to the presence of the large railway area of Porta Vescovo. Industry and residence have been living together in the "messy" area until the 60s of the twentieth century, when the residence took the industry over. Today just a few industrial activities are survived, and the identity of the industrial district is increasingly far from memory. A memory that wants to be relived through a path which crosses the district, finding the traces of an industrial past that now has been lost.

Il quartiere di Borgo Venezia dalla sua nascita, alla fine del sec. XIX con alla perdita delle servitù militari nelle aree esterne alle mura della città di Verona, si è subito configurato come un grande attrattore per le attività industriali di media e piccola grandezza, in buona parte grazie alla presenza delle grandi Officine Ferroviarie di Porta Vescovo. Industria e residenza hanno convissuto insieme all’interno del “disordinato” quartiere fino agli anni ’60 del Novecento, quando quest’ultima ebbe il sopravvento. Oggi le attività sopravvissute sono assai poche, e l’identità industriale del quartiere è sempre più lontana dalla memoria. Una memoria che vuole essere rivissuta attraverso un percorso che, attraversando il quartiere, vuole ritrovare le tracce rimaste di un passato industriale oramai perduto.
