Addressing the challenges of diminishing and transforming agricultural fields and farms, depopulation and aging populations is paramount for rural development in Italy. Tuscany, renowned for its unique topography, grapples with these issues, affecting nearly 90% of its rural landscape. Despite these hurdles, Tuscany thrives on agritourism, serving as both an economic driver and a means of preserving the landscape. This study explores a novel approach to conserving Tuscany’s cultural landscape by focusing on a representative winery intervention and discuss the role of architecture in contemporary intervention as process in act. Our aim is to foster sustainable development in rural villages by innovative conservation strategies grounded in scientific research.

Abstract
Addressing the challenges of diminishing and transforming agricultural fields and farms, depopulation and aging populations is paramount for rural development in Italy. Tuscany, renowned for its unique topography, grapples with these issues, affecting nearly 90% of its rural landscape. Despite these hurdles, Tuscany thrives on agritourism, serving as both an economic driver and a means of preserving the landscape. This study explores a novel approach to conserving Tuscany’s cultural landscape by focusing on a representative winery intervention and discuss the role of architecture in contemporary intervention as process in act. Our aim is to foster sustainable development in rural villages by innovative conservation strategies grounded in scientific research.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
