Villa San Remigio, the place where art, architecture and nature find a connection. This thesis aims at reconstructing the history of the Villa itself and its gardens by seeking the indissoluble connection with the works of art contained in it or that have passed through it and the building of the atelier, a fundamental place for the owners of the villa and for their activities. This research wants to give a new look at this heritage of historical and cultural interest that since the post-war period has lost its social relevance, despite being a decidedly relevant during its splendor. A project that, through the conservative restoration and reuse of the art studio, located inside the gardens of the villa itself, tries to give new life to both the gardens and the villa. A cultural itinerary that creates a connection between the Villa, the art studio and the Villa Taranto, a relevant tourist attraction of Lake Maggiore adjacent to Villa San Remigio. Within this thesis course we focused not only on the architectural aspect, but also on the historical events and the characteristic features that led to the construction of the Villa and its prestige during its years of splendor. The project starts as a sort of “art hunt” from the stones found outside not catalogued yet and turns into a process of enhancement and integration of the Villa and the works that were collected in it by taking account on what vicissitudes have brought many works out of those rooms and gardens and their current placement, at the same time what brought them inside the villa and where they come from. All this is correlated by a work of detail analysis and project both conservative and preliminary at the level of architectural concept on the art studio, as a new artistic and creative center of Castagnola and for Pallanza itself.

Abstract
Villa San Remigio, the place where art, architecture and nature find a connection. This thesis aims at reconstructing the history of the Villa itself and its gardens by seeking the indissoluble connection with the works of art contained in it or that have passed through it and the building of the atelier, a fundamental place for the owners of the villa and for their activities.
