Historic ruins play a significant role in Italian culture, yet many architectural heritages in remote regions remain unknown to the public. Bramante’s Nymphaeum is one of them, located in the small city Genazzano on the edge of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital in central Italy. The entire city has a profound historical and cultural heritage and unique natural topography. The Nymphaeum is also full of charm because of its beautiful architectural features and the poetic aesthetics of the ruin. Unfortunately, it is now abandoned and difficult to access due to overgrown vegetation. This thesis intends to develop scientific and reasonable strategies for reuse, based on an in-depth and comprehensive study of Nymphaeum and its environment. The first part, from the architectural standpoint, aims to seek its value through the physical, historical, and cultural characteristics, serving as a foundation for heritage conservation and regeneration. The next part, from the perspective of social reality, explores how strategies for developing cultural heritage can address local socio-economic needs and identity. Finally, combining these findings, a set of valorization strategies and a project are put forward.

Abstract
Finally, combining these findings, a set of valorization strategies and a project are put forward.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
