La Residenza delle Cese: Accogliere la collettività tra spazi aperti, percorsi e nuovi luoghi da abitare a Castelli.

The village of Castelli, nestled in the foothills of the Camicia and Prena mountains, has long been the custodian of a ceramic craftsmanship now fused with the stones and the multiple toothings of the village walls. A school for the training of clay artists and artisans was also established here in the late 19th century. The school, now Liceo Artistico F.A. Grue, has seen a significant reduction in the number of students over time, due to a commisiton of factors including the depopulation of the area, in place since before the earthquakes that involved Central Italy in 2009 and 2016, and the distance from the main school centers in the provinces of Teramo and Pescara. In this scenario, therefore, the need is generated for a space that is able to respond to the needs of hospitality and collectiveness, that is a promoter of a local culture but also that brings a new breath between the torn and not yet healed walls, that is able to generate an encounter between long-time inhabitants and new resisdents foreign to the reality of Castelli.

Il borgo di Castelli, incastonato alle pendici dei monti Camicia e Prena, è da tempo immemore custode di una artigianalità ceramica ormai fusa con le pietre e le molteplici ammorsature dei muri del borgo. Alla fine del XIX Secolo nasce qui anche una scuola per la formazione degli artisti e artigiani dell’argilla. La scuola, oggi Liceo Artistico F.A. Grue, ha visto nel tempo una notevole riduzione dei frequentanti, dovuto a una commistione di fattori cui lo spopolamento del territorio, in atto da prima dei terremoti che hanno coinvolto il Centro Italia nel 2009 e nel 2016, e la distanza dai principali centri scolastici delle province di Teramo e Pescara. In questo scenario si genera quindi la necessità di uno spazio che sappia rispondere ai bisogni di ospitalità e collettività, che sia promotore di una cultura locale ma anche che porti un nuovo respiro tra le mura lacerate e non ancora rimarginate, che sia in grado di generare un incontro tra abitanti di lunga data e nuovi residenti estranei alla realtà di Castelli.
