Streetscape Renaissance: Reimagining Streets and Public Space in Varese Theater District

The center of the city of Varese is characterized bythe fortunate presence of 3 theatres,born in differenteras, but which have always been recognized bycitizens as points of reference within the urban fabricThe project involves networking and connecting thesquares and open spaces in correspondence witheach Theater through tactical urbanism strategiesThe objective is to create a lively and livableneighbourhood,capable of involving citizens in fullyexperiencing the spaces of the city and with aparticular predisposition to the arts and connectionwith nature, both for people and for the small faunapresent in city.

Il centro della città di Varese è caratterizzato dalla fortunata presenza di tre teatri, nati in epoche diverse, ma che sono sempre stati riconosciuti dai cittadini come punti di riferimento all'interno del tessuto urbano. Il progetto prevede il networking e il collegamento delle piazze e degli spazi aperti in corrispondenza di ciascun teatro attraverso strategie di urbanismo tattico. L'obiettivo è creare un quartiere vivace e abitabile, capace di coinvolgere i cittadini nella piena fruizione degli spazi della città, con una particolare predisposizione verso le arti e il collegamento con la natura, sia per le persone che per la piccola fauna presente in città.
