This thesis focuses on the efficiency improvement of a three-phase inverter, designed for traction drive in hybrid and electrical vehicle applications. The overall reduction in energy consumption allows improvements such as cost reduction, weight and dimension savings, all concerning the inverter cooling system. The available space can be utilized in order to increase battery stack dimension and to extend the autonomy distance range in pure electric operating mode. In this work, a review of the state of the art about available modulation techniques has been undertaken. Discontinuous strategies have been thoroughly investigated, in respect of losses reduction and system performance optimization. Matlab-Simulink numerical simulations of a digital Space Vector modulator, with inverter losses assessment, has also been carried out. The classical Vector strategy has been compared with two different discontinuous modulators, with one of those being developed for this project. Such strategies have been lastly performed on a DSP-inverter board in order to experimentally investigate performance achivement.

Abstract
Such strategies have been lastly performed on a DSP-inverter board in order to experimentally investigate performance achivement.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
