Fessura di continuità : una doppia memoria

Preservation is much more than mere safeguarding of historical artifacts; it depicts a dialogue with our past, engages the different narratives of a building to redefine its significance and importance within a modern context. It elevates a structure from building to monument. Take for instance the Museo Diocesano di Milano, a structure whose walls tell stories of religion, war and survival, a structure nested in the heart of the city of Milan as a reminder. An act of compassion is fundamental for any intervention on the building in order to preserve its story and status. To uncover the perceived monumental value of the Museo, we propose an immersive experience, inviting the user to engage on one hand with the artifacts exhibited and on another with the museum’s historical essence and relevance as an architectural grandeur. By linking the building’s storied past with a new dynamic-modern extension, we bridge the gap between history and modernity and allow the memory of the museum to live on. We, therefore, design a new chapter in the museum’s story and strengthen its relevance withing its particular context. Integrating a dynamic architectural element, the new addition acts as a multi-directional guide.It blends the organic shapes of the surrounding urban fabric on the northern side with the rigid grid structure of the historical museum on the southern side. This approach builds a powerful dialogue between Museo Diocesano, The city of Milan, and the Park. Therefore, establishes the building as a distinguished landmark. Featuring a outward leaning facade with a roof that echoes the silhouettes of the surrounding urban fabric, the design aims to deepen the engagement with the Museo Diocesano’s Environment. The building’s ability to connect the different urban elements and respond to the context transforms it into an icon, a monument, not only through the basics of design but through its role as a dynamic signpost withing the cityscape.

La conservazione è molto più che una semplice salvaguardia di artefatti storici; rappresenta un dialogo con il nostro passato, coinvolge le diverse narrazioni di un edificio per ridefinirne il significato e l’importanza nel contesto moderno. Eleva una struttura da edificio a monumento. Prendiamo ad esempio il Museo Diocesano di Milano, una struttura le cui pareti raccontano storie di religione, guerra e sopravvivenza, situata nel cuore della città di Milano come un promemoria. Un atto di compassione è fondamentale per qualsiasi intervento sull’edificio al fine di preservare la sua storia e il suo status. Per svelare il valore monumentale percepito del Museo, proponiamo un’esperienza immersiva, invitando l’utente a interagire, da un lato, con i manufatti esposti e, dall’altro, con l’essenza storica e la rilevanza architettonica del museo. Collegando il passato storico dell’edificio con una nuova estensione dinamica e moderna, colmiamo il divario tra storia e modernità e permettiamo alla memoria del museo di continuare a vivere. Progettiamo quindi un nuovo capitolo nella storia del museo e rafforziamo la sua rilevanza nel suo contesto particolare. Integrando un elemento architettonico dinamico, la nuova aggiunta funge da guida multidirezionale. Essa fonde le forme organiche del tessuto urbano circostante sul lato nord con la struttura a griglia rigida del museo storico sul lato sud. Questo approccio costruisce un potente dialogo tra il Museo Diocesano, la città di Milano e il parco. Pertanto, stabilisce l’edificio come un punto di riferimento distintivo. Caratterizzato da una facciata inclinata verso l’esterno e un tetto che richiama le silhouette del tessuto urbano circostante, il progetto mira a approfondire l’interazione con l’ambiente del Museo Diocesano. La capacità dell’edificio di collegare i diversi elementi urbani e rispondere al contesto lo trasforma in un’icona, un monumento, non solo attraverso le basi del design, ma attraverso il suo ruolo come segnaposto dinamico all’interno del panorama urbano.
