The research moves from a strong statement: reconstruction is the preferable intervention in the face of a state of latency of form in architecture. This consideration reveals an attitude that has always been present in architectural practice but whose necessity has become more and more pressing due to the continuous formal upheavals, both natural and anthropic, which threaten the work of architecture. Such a clear position must be proven through a treatment that analyses the theoretical and practical implications of a design approach seen as authentic architectural practice, overcoming narrow disciplinary compartmentalisation. In this sense, the research proposes, on the one hand, a phenomenological approach through the systematisation of a cognitive apparatus on the reconstruction project up to the proposal of operational models of reference and, on the other, the monographic in-depth study of the case study of Verona. This monumental palimpsest has perpetuated its formal continuity over the centuries through numerous interventions on the existing and notable reconstruction cases, no longer seen as extra-ordinary moments in the city’s development but reintegrated in a critical narration of the design reasons and formal outcomes. The two parts share a methodological approach that selects the most relevant cases for discussion within the vast resource of reconstructive projects, analysed through common comparative tools. The two parts weave a reciprocal relationship in which one becomes a test bed for the other. The twofold fi nal outcome aims at demonstrating the reintegration of reconstruction as the primary modus operandi to the latency of form: the development of a gnoseological system with which to defi ne the effi cacy of the reconstructive project and the in-depth study of a precise case with the intent not only to corroborate the defi ned system but also to outline a new vision of logical-syntactic continuity.

Abstract
The twofold fi nal outcome aims at demonstrating the reintegration of reconstruction as the primary modus operandi to the latency of form: the development of a gnoseological system with which to defi ne the effi cacy of the reconstructive project and the in-depth study of a precise case with the intent not only to corroborate the defi ned system but also to outline a new vision of logical-syntactic continuity.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
