Tempo e spazio delle relazioni tra i margini: limiti, intervalli e sequenze

Walking along the eastern border of the city of Milan gives us the opportunity of seeing the big urban infrastructures present there that have a very important role in the definition of the urban spaces connected to them. These imponent infrastructures have a significant impact on the territory that must face important fractures of the urban fabric. They represent limits for the slow mobility, defining a barrier for the permeability on the eastern border of the city. The goal of this thesis is to connect the fractured urban fabric, caused by the presence of these big infrastructures, using the infrastructure itself to reach this goal. Studying the morphology of the peripheric areas of Milan we noticed how the entire city is bordered by a big system of parks that form a circle along all its perimeter. Three of these parks, Parco Lambro, Parco della Lambretta and Parco Forlanini are crossed by the east ring road bringing us to the conclusion that the best way to connect the urban fabric has to be the one of building a unique big green lung thanks to the connection between the three parks given by the use of the big empty spaces under the infrastructure. This new green area configures itself as a completely permeable space in terms of a slow mobility thanks to the construction of cycle paths that, integrated the ones already present on the territory, can build a filter area for the cyclable and walkable access. The valorization of the Lambro river thanks to the construction of new reservoirs and of the old Innocenti area thanks to the integration between industrial archeology and new built make this a transversal project since the fact that it works on different interpretative scales. Fundamental in the develop of the project is the theme of memory. The recover of the industrial and working culture finds its expression in the itinerant Lambretta museum thanks to the use of expositive structures made by Innocenti tubes.

Camminare lungo il margine orientale della città di Milano ci consente di osservare le grandi infrastrutture urbane ivi presenti che hanno un ruolo determinante nella connotazione degli spazi urbani ad esse adiacenti. Queste imponenti infrastrutture hanno un notevole impatto sul territorio che si ritrova a dover fare i conti con importanti fratture del tessuto urbano. Rappresentano limiti per la mobilità lenta, andando a definire una barriera nei confronti della permeabilità lungo il margine orientale della città. L’obiettivo di questa tesi è quello di andare a connettere il tessuto urbano frammentato a causa della presenza di queste grandi infrastrutture utilizzando l’infrastruttura stessa come mezzo per il raggiungimento di tale scopo. Tramite lo studio della morfologia delle aree periferiche di Milano si è notato come l’intera città sia recintata da un grande sistema di parchi disposti a raggiera lungo tutto il suo perimetro. Proprio tre di questi parchi, ossia il Parco Lambro, il Parco della Lambretta e il Parco Forlanini si ritrovano attraversati dalla tangenziale est portando alla conclusione che il metodo migliore per la connessione del tessuto urbano sia quello di costruire un unico grande polmone verde tramite la connessione dei tre parchi grazie all’utilizzo dei grandi vuoti presenti al di sotto dell’infrastruttura. Questa nuova area verde si configura come uno spazio interamente permeabile per una mobilità lenta grazie alla costruzione di percorsi ciclabili che, integrandosi a quelli già presenti sul territorio, vadano a costituire un’area di filtro per l’accesso ciclabile e pedonale alla città di Milano. La valorizzazione del fiume Lambro tramite la costruzione di nuovi bacini idrici e dell’ex area Innocenti tramite l’integrazione tra archeologia industriale e nuovo edificato lo rendono un progetto trasversale che opera su differenti scale interpretative. Fondamentale nello sviluppo del progetto è il tema della memoria. Il recupero della cultura industriale ed operaia trova la sua espressione nel museo itinerante della Lambretta realizzato tramite l’utilizzo di strutture espositive interamente realizzate in tubi Innocenti.
