The current state of the economy is continuously challenged by economic and political interactions around the globe. Since decades, western countries are global dominant actors due to the hegemony of the U.S dollar. The present needs of emerging countries require a remodelling of the current monetary and financial system. Indeed, BRICS members which are representing a non-neglectable share of global interactions are introducing de-dollarization initiatives. The coalition has grown during 2024 while it pursues its goal towards a progressive de-dollarization process. The report provides a detailed explanation of technological solutions at their disposition to ensure the development of such process. In addition, the report advocates the benefits and challenges of decentralized finance (DeFi) including Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), smart contracts and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) as progressive tools for change. Technological solutions presented have as objective to improve cross-border transactions in a challenging geopolitical environment while ensuring the economic resilience and autonomy of BRICS members. In fact, the BRICS council of 2024 intends to establish such tools to progress on this transition path.

Abstract
In fact, the BRICS council of 2024 intends to establish such tools to progress on this transition path.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
