P.E.A.K. Alps is a wide-ranging program that acts simultaneously on four themes: Protection, Environment, Attitude and Knowledge. These become the common thread for the conception of a new type of alpine shelter, which combines the traditional function of bivouac with the scientific study of the evolution of natural ecosystems. The analysis of the contemporary dynamics that characterize the frequentation of mountains and alpine structures has generated the desire to find a valid and universally recognized system capable of safeguarding mountain environments, giving a positive direction to the current phenomenon of overtourism. From this perspective, connecting the hiking world with the research field means giving rise to a two-way interchange of values, with the goal of educating the community through a personal and direct reflection on the delicate relationship between man and nature. All this is embodied in a prefabricated structure of minimal living, which sees reconfigurability over time as one of its greatest strengths, as it can respond to the different needs of the client, as well as to go along with the ever-changing climate and conformation of the environment in which it stands. It consists of industrialized and energy self-sufficient modules, designed and optimized to facilitate the transport and assembly phases, through structural and constructive insights. The result is a system of catalog elements modular to each other to generate different spatial and functional configurations, which see in their most complete version the materialization of the project's cardinal ideology: the interaction between hikers and researchers. This synergy takes place in a central space of organic matrix that is inspired by the symbolic flower of the Alps: the Edelweiss. Finally, the thesis aims to create a new scene in which the P.E.A.K. Alps shelter, by expanding the traditional concept of the bivouac, also becomes a cultural destination and a garrison aimed at protecting and enhancing the mountain territory, as wonderful as fragile.

Abstract
Alps shelter, by expanding the traditional concept of the bivouac, also becomes a cultural destination and a garrison aimed at protecting and enhancing the mountain territory, as wonderful as fragile.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
