The thesis explores the topic of public bathing in urban conditions. It researches the relationship between public and private spaces in cities and the connection of bathing acts with them. Bathing practices are analyzed through their connection to the city, and infrastructure as well as their spiritual, hygienic, therapeutic, and social elements. Furthermore, the existing water facilities of pools, fountains, toilets, etc. in Milan are analyzed through spatial and formal mappings. The same method has been used for analyses of Alberghi Diurni as an important typology of bathing space in Milan Additionally, a technical system of water distribution in the city is analyzed to establish the network in which the project is placed. The project locations correspond to relay station locations and therefore the atlas of relay stations is created. With the aim of adaptability of the project to various locations across Milan, the atlas of elements is created. The atlas showcases sets of surfaces, services, and objects that are to be applied to relay station locations in various quantities and compositions based on the site restrictions. Lastly, the application of set solutions is explored by creating a network of water facilities that bring water to public spaces and reveal the presence of a water distribution system. The interventions also include systems for rainfall mitigation that use grey water as the primary water source.
La tesi esplora il tema dei bagni pubblici in condizioni urbane. Studia la relazione tra spazi pubblici e privati nelle città e la connessione degli atti di balneazione con essi. Le pratiche di balneazione sono analizzate attraverso la loro connessione con la città e le infrastrutture, nonché i loro elementi spirituali, igienici, terapeutici e sociali. Inoltre, le strutture idriche esistenti di piscine, fontane, servizi igienici, ecc. a Milano sono analizzate attraverso mappature spaziali e formali. Lo stesso metodo è stato utilizzato per le analisi degli Alberghi Diurni come importante tipologia di spazio di balneazione a Milano. Inoltre, viene analizzato un sistema tecnico di distribuzione idrica in città per stabilire la rete in cui è collocato il progetto.Le posizioni indicate dal progetto corrispondono a rispettive stazioni di ritrasmissione, creando così un atlante delle ultime. Con l'obiettivo di adattabilità del progetto a varie posizioni in tutta Milano, viene creato l'atlante degli elementi. L'atlante mostra set di superfici, servizi e oggetti che devono essere applicati alle posizioni delle stazioni di ritrasmissione in varie quantità e composizioni in base alle restrizioni del sito. Infine, l'applicazione di soluzioni prestabilite viene esplorata creando una rete di strutture idriche che portano acqua negli spazi pubblici e rivelano la presenza di un sistema di distribuzione idrica. Gli interventi includono anche sistemi per la mitigazione delle precipitazioni che utilizzano l'acqua grigia come fonte idrica primaria.
