Nuclear Phantasm- biodiversity archive and path in Zarnowiec, Poland

.This project Nuclear Phantasm explores the intersection of landscape and post-human structures within the context of Żarnowiec, Poland—a site marked by the abandoned remains of an unfinished nuclear power plant. The project examines how architecture can mediate between human activity and the autonomous processes of natural reclamation. The project proposes a biodiversity archive and research facility integrated into the site's perimeter fostering knowledge exchange and sustainable development of the region. Drawing on the concepts of Gilles Clément’s "Third Landscape" and Donna Haraway’s "naturecultures," the research examines the integration of built environments into dynamic ecosystems. The concept of an enclosed garden is reinterpreted to create a porous interface between built environments and spontaneous ecosystems. Central to the project is the concept of a path that traverses the site's perimeter, facilitating a layered experience of its unique ecosystem and history. The path is both a literal and conceptual framework, creating a dialogue between human activity and natural reclamation. The path’s design uses spatial variation to guide visitors through the site, shifting perspectives between immersion and observation. The work defines the role of architecture as a medium for coexistence, exploring the cultural and spatial dimensions of landscape.

.Nuclear Phantasm esplora l'intersezione tra paesaggio e strutture post-umane nel contesto di Żarnowiec, in Polonia, un sito caratterizzato dai resti abbandonati di una centrale nucleare incompiuta. Il progetto esamina come l'architettura possa mediare tra l'attività umana e i processi autonomi di recupero naturale. Propone un archivio della biodiversità e un centro di ricerca integrati nel perimetro del sito, favorendo lo scambio di conoscenze e lo sviluppo sostenibile della regione.
