The notable disparity between the development of the northern and southern parts of Rotterdam has driven the creation of change and growth programs over recent decades to ensure equal opportunities for both areas. One such initiative is the Nationaal Programma Rotterdam Zuid (NPRZ), that is grounded in three fundamental principles for the development of Rotterdam South: education, employment, and housing. This program has inspired various urban visions and urban-architectural projects aimed at guiding stakeholders along the path outlined by the municipality of Rotterdam. The objective of TechHarbour Rotterdam is to explore how a new urban center (the new International Research Center and Innovation Hub) located in one of the city’s most restricted and remote areas, has the potential to generate transformative impact across the urban, social, and knowledge development realms. By integrating building types designed for highly specialized uses, such as laboratory facilities and university research campuses, with fully public spaces, TechHarbour aims to create an attractive urban magnet for visitors of all backgrounds, ages, and interests. At the same time, it addresses the unique challenges of designing a building of this scale, including technological solutions and structural calculations. In collaboration with a master plan that encompasses the remaining development goals focused on sustainability, monument conservation, and returning a significant part of the city’s history, long inaccessible, to the people of Rotterdam, TechHarbour contributes to consolidating a sustainable and inclusive future.

Abstract
In collaboration with a master plan that encompasses the remaining development goals focused on sustainability, monument conservation, and returning a significant part of the city’s history, long inaccessible, to the people of Rotterdam, TechHarbour contributes to consolidating a sustainable and inclusive future.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
