Rehabilitation and modernization of the theoretical highschool and adjacent streets

This project originated from a 2023 competition in cluj napoca, Romania for the revitaliza tion of the Lucian Blaga Theoretical School , which we selected as the focus of our thesis. Our proposal reflects a commitment to modernizing educational spaces and enhancing the school's connection to its surrounding urban environment. Through this design, we aim not only to upgrade the school’s infrastructure but also to integrate it more harmoniously into the local community, creating a welcoming and functional space for both students and residents. At the heart of our design approach is the optimization of interior spaces to meet the evolving needs of modern education. We are focusing on improving energy efficien cy and ensuring that both existing and new structures function at their highest poten tial. By redesigning the schoolyard, we will create a green, inviting environment that pro motes sustainability and provides a nurturing space for students, teachers, and staff. Our vision extends beyond the school’s walls, as we seek to transform the surrounding streets into vibrant, safe, and accessible urban spaces. We plan to improve key pedestri an and vehicular connections, ensuring seamless access to public transportation and en hancing mobility within the neighborhood. Streets like Liviu Rebreanu and Unirii will serve as crucial links, fostering a stronger connection between the school and the city. By balancing functional modernization with architectural integration and thoughtful urban de sign, we are creating a project that benefits both the school community and the wider neigh borhood. Our goal is to design a space where education, community, and urban life come together, creating a lasting positive impact for everyone involved.

Il nostro progetto per la rivitalizzazione del Liceo Teorico Lucian Blaga di Cluj-Napoca ri f lette il nostro impegno nel modernizzare gli spazi educativi, rafforzando al contempo il le game tra la scuola e l'ambiente urbano circostante. Puntiamo non solo a migliorare l'infra struttura della scuola, ma anche a integrarla in modo più armonioso nella comunità locale. Al centro del nostro approccio progettuale c'è l'ottimizzazione degli spazi interni per soddisfare le mutevoli esigenze dell'istruzione moderna. Ci stiamo concentrando sul miglioramento dell'efficien za energetica e sulla garanzia che sia le strutture esistenti che quelle nuove funzionino al massimo del loro potenziale. Riprogettando il cortile della scuola, creeremo un ambiente verde e invitante che promuove la sostenibilità e fornisce uno spazio stimolante per studenti, insegnanti e personale. La nostra visione si estende oltre le mura della scuola, poiché cerchiamo di trasformare le strade circostanti in spazi urbani vivaci, sicuri e accessibili. Abbiamo in programma di migliorare i prin cipali collegamenti pedonali e veicolari, garantendo un accesso senza interruzioni ai trasporti pubblici e migliorando la mobilità all'interno del quartiere. Strade come Liviu Rebreanu e Unirii fungeranno da collegamenti cruciali, favorendo una connessione più forte tra la scuola e la città. Bilanciando la modernizzazione funzionale con l'integrazione architettonica e un design ur bano ponderato, stiamo creando un progetto che avvantaggia sia la comunità scolastica che il quartiere più ampio. Il nostro obiettivo è progettare uno spazio in cui istruzione, comunità e vita urbana si uniscano, creando un impatto positivo duraturo per tutti i soggetti coinvolti.
