Starting from a study on the typical courtyard building of cascine in Milan, this project proposes a regeneration of the Sant'Ambrogio and Cavriano buildings along the western edge of Parco Forlanini. By integrating pedestrian paths and a linear market, it improves accessibility from the adjacent stations (both metro and train) and car bridges. Cascina Sant'Ambrogio restores its original courtyards by removing added elements, introducing art galleries, restaurants integrated with green spaces, and educational hubs for children immersed in nature. Cascina Cavriano preserves historical fragments by reconfiguring its volumes into community spaces dedicated to culture and art, such as a hostel, artist studios, and a café. The courtyard system, open to hosting events like exhibitions, markets, and other gatherings, characterizes both interventions. Through a reconfiguration of the historical buildings and a new functional program, the project defines the cascine as a cultural infrastructure that connects urban and natural ecosystems, promoting the coexistence of art, memory, and public life.

Abstract
Through a reconfiguration of the historical buildings and a new functional program, the project defines the cascine as a cultural infrastructure that connects urban and natural ecosystems, promoting the coexistence of art, memory, and public life.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
