The research aims to provide an analysis that highlights the relationship between architectural debate and countercultural production, focusing on a specific historical period: the 1960-1970 decade. In doing so, it examines two experiences that developed during those years, united by an interest in multidisciplinary contamination and a close connection to the political and artistic landscape of the time. The first part of the research examines the Gruppo Strum and the influence of the politically-charged landscape of Turin, characterized by experimental artistic production, and by a theoretical and critical work within the field of architecture. The second part analyzes the Provo Movement, whose nature and activities as a political and countercultural collective influenced the debate on urban planning and the management of social spaces in the city of Amsterdam. The analysis of both experiences is grounded in the concept of the city- platform, understood not only as built space but as an infrastructure defined by social, political, and economic relationships. The research explores the influence of these groups on the urban system through three main dimensions: political, linguistic, and performative. The goal is not so much to compare the two experiences, but rather to highlight their intersections and affinities, reconstructing a broader picture that integrates the different facets of each. The research methodology involved using a variety of sources, combining traditional bibliographic information with oral testimonies and consulting official and personal archives related to both experiences. In identifying and analyzing the two groups, the research has revealed and brought to light previously unexplored aspects that traditional bibliography and studies had not addressed. In conclusion, the research demonstrates how the dialogue between architecture and countercultural production, which emerged during this period of upheaval, helped to redefine the architectural discipline, linking it to alternative social and cultural contexts. The new connections uncovered by the research offer an original perspective on the role of architecture in the context of political and cultural transformations, emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the urban environment and countercultural practices in defining a new design practice.

Abstract
The new connections uncovered by the research offer an original perspective on the role of architecture in the context of political and cultural transformations, emphasizing the importance of the relationship between the urban environment and countercultural practices in defining a new design practice.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
