Industry 4.0 represents the fourth industrial revolution, a process of technological transformation that is redefining industrial buildings both from a production standpoint and in terms of their construction and management. Within the wide range of technologies and solutions introduced in this transformation process, a significant portion focuses on sustainability, a topic that has been gaining increasing relevance in recent years, even in industrial buildings. This thesis analyzes the Industry 4.0 technologies and solutions that contribute to the sustainability of industrial buildings and how they are applied, through the analysis of three case studies in Italy: Schneider Electric, Ferrari, and ABB. After a thorough literature review, the case study analysis, mostly conducted through desktop research was supplemented with an in-depth interview—for the Schneider Electric case—. The results demonstrate that the adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions brings significant benefits to the sustainability of industrial buildings, but at the same time, it also presents challenges and difficulties in their implementation that should be tackled in order to best exploit digital technologies.

Abstract
The results demonstrate that the adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions brings significant benefits to the sustainability of industrial buildings, but at the same time, it also presents challenges and difficulties in their implementation that should be tackled in order to best exploit digital technologies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
