The research aims to explore Asger Jorn's passionate relationship with architecture, examining the events, the theoretical contributions, the activities and the associations related to the architectural sphere. A polyhedral artist and tireless experimenter, Jorn showed his interest in architecture from his formative years, formulating in this phase his first thoughts on the need for a synthesis of the arts, a symbiosis between painting and architecture. These reflections were the starting point for the development of a harsh anti-functionalist critique, a radical and dissonant architectural conception based on the rejection of the technical perfection of cold "machines for living" and the exaltation of the creative and imaginative capacities inherent in every human being. Towards the end of the Fifties, while the Situationist architectural project was turning into a political critique of the post-modern world, Jorn polarised his energies on the restoration of his home in Bruciati, Albissola Marina, creating a place that was truly capable of escaping the despotic mechanisms of the neo-capitalist system and the utilitarian logic of functionalism.

Abstract
Towards the end of the Fifties, while the Situationist architectural project was turning into a political critique of the post-modern world, Jorn polarised his energies on the restoration of his home in Bruciati, Albissola Marina, creating a place that was truly capable of escaping the despotic mechanisms of the neo-capitalist system and the utilitarian logic of functionalism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
